G.U.E.S.T.  Program Kicks off the 2017 Fall/Winter Programs....

Friends of GUEST,

Today is a chilly day and a reminder that winter is quickly approaching.  With the cooler temperatures, I am also reminded of our brothers and sisters that find themselves without proper shelter to protect them from the cold.  This year, GUEST celebrates the 5th season of providing emergency winter shelter in Gloucester.  GUEST could not do it without YOU...our amazing volunteers and friends!

The GUEST Shelter will be opening its doors on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 7 am at the Day Shelter and will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through Monday, March 26, 2018.  We look forward to a sheltering season of new friendships and helping our new friends with their needs.

Volunteer Training Dates

Volunteer training will be offered before the shelter season begins.  New volunteers must attend a training session before volunteering.

Sunday, November 5, 4pm - Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church (formerly known as First Presbyterian Church)

Sunday, November 19, 4 pm - Bethany United Methodist Church

Sunday, December 3, 4 pm - Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church

 Executive Director

GUEST is seeking a year-round, part-time Executive Director to serve as an advocate for the homeless in our community.  The Executive Director is responsible for community outreach, communication, marketing, and fundraising.  Some of the duties include networking in the local community, managing the Shelter operations, and working closely with the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership, management, communication and computer skills. This is a part-time position of 10-25 hours per week with the possibility of growth for the right candidate. A full job description is available upon request

Board of Directors Needed

GUEST continues to grow each season and seeks new Board members to help establish goals and objectives for the organization.   Board members help provide leadership, direction and guidance to enhance the ministries and programs offered through GUEST.  The Board of Directors meet weekly during the operating season of December to March, and the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of each month during the off-season of April - November.  Board meetings are held on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at a designated location in Gloucester County.  We are currently in need of a Vice-Chairperson & Treasurer.  A description is available for each officer position upon request

Upcoming Season

Be on the lookout for Signup Genius links coming soon for volunteers to signup for the various shift needs at the Day Shelter and Night Shelters.  We are still ironing out the schedule, so as soon as all the weeks are confirmed, we will be sending out a list of the churches hosting this year.

I look forward to working with each of you again this year.  Please feel free to share this information with your churches, community organizations, places of business and with friends and family, as we all know..."Many hands make light work." - African Proverb
